After the RainIf you're facing tribulation,
you are in good company,
all the saints around
the world face adversity!
Jesus never promised us
an uneventful trip...
He did, however tell us,
He's the anchor of our ship!
Jesus reassured us that
the storms of life will pass,
and then the sea you're sailing on
will be as smooth as glass.
So look for the rainbow
though storm clouds remain...
sunshine will burst through,
soon after the rain!

Good Things
Thursday, May 22, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
16 How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver! - Proverbs 16:16(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. - Revelation 21:23(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
I make myself rich by making my wants few. - Henry David Thoreau -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Laughter is a tranquilizer with no side effects. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Let your success be measured by the happiness in your heart. - From Go For It -
Many who say "Our Father" on Sunday spend the rest of the week acting like orphans. - From Reflecting God -
Never forget in the darkness what you know to be true in the light. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 86 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I went to the post office and then by Walgreen's to pick up a prescription. I came home and took a nap. At around 3:30 p.m. I went to Buck Thetford's Barber Shop and got a haircut. Buck doesn't cut hair any more since he had cancer but his son, Brent, is carrying on. I saw Buck today and he is doing good. I put food and treats outside for the cats at around 6:10 p.m. and sat with them for a few minutes. I did a load of laundry this evening. I will never forget how it used to take my mother a whole day to do laundry by scrubbing it on a washboard and drying it on a clothesline. We have come a long, long way in my life time.
I always appreciate the emails that I receive even though I don't answer them individually. I appreciate everyone who reads the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Smokey is in the den with me resting on a tv tray. Rascal was here and has now gone elsewhere but he will be back. They are all accounted for tonight.
Have a nice Friday. Everett.

Good Things
Wednesday, May 21, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
(Jesus said) 10 "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property, who will give you property of your own? - Luke 16:10-12(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
5 Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. - Psalm 126:5-6(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. - Dolly Parton -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Life is a work in progress. - From Go For It -
Our character is measured by what we do when no one is looking. - From Our Daily Bread -
The future is the time when you'll wish you'd done what you aren't doing now. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 87 degrees. I had lunch with Charley, our nephews, Denton and Doug, and Doug's wife, Darlene. I went to the post office. I took a nap as usual this afternoon. I called Rascal in and he snuggled with me until I went to sleep. When I awakened, he had moved on to some other place. I put food and treats outside at around 6:10 p.m. and sat with the cats for several minutes. The wind was not as strong today as it was yesterday. Thanks for reading the Good Things and thanks for your email. I have a Cat Definition at the end of the Good Things.
The cats are fine. None are with me now but I have seen all of them and they will be back with me in a little while.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett
A CAT DEFINITION:
Cheshire Cat: The Cheshire cat is a fictional cat popularized by Lewis Carroll in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and known for it's distinctive mischievous grin.

Rich Tassinari
In Church on Good FridayI claim to love Thee, and, thus reckon me
A pious chap, 'gainst others measured much
More suitable to me just how You'd see
A follower, disciple, or as such.
And so, I chose to not cry crucify
When other goodly Friday folk cried out;
Within a quiet mask of pride stood I
Amidst the sinners' cries raised to a shout.
But sinners' cries call from a broken soul
Which seeking hope turns to Your cross, then bends,
And burns with love like flames from dying coal
To live anew as Your death makes amends.
Thus I, now freely take the guilt that's mine,
Escape my death through Yours, and love I find.
Rich Tassinari 9/20/2007. Shakespearian sonnet form first written for Crossway. This is a poem based upon my own personal experience of refusing to cry, "Crucify Him", when I was younger in church on Good Friday. I believed I would not have crucified Him, yet, I discovered that I do crucify Him when I refuse to believe in Him and live my own proud way. That struggle is with me every day. He, however, is forgiving and always waits for my humble return to Him when I am resurrected from my death again.
