Good Things
Friday, May 2, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I (wisdom) hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. - Proverbs 8:13(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Isaiah 61:11(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Kind words may be free, but they give a priceless lift of spirit. Why not encourage someone today? - David McCasland -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
All healing ultimately finds its source in God. - From Reflecting God -
Make the right choice: Obey the Spirit's voice. - From Our Daily Bread -
The measure of life is not its duration but its donation. - From Reminisce Magazine -
When your world feels like it's falling apart, I hope your friends, family, and faith are the bonds that hold it together. - From I Wish For You -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 75 degrees. Kathy cleaned my house this morning while I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I took my nap this afternoon with Smokey. I put treats outside for the cats around 6:10 p.m. and sat with them for a few minutes. Not much news tonight as I didn't do much today. Thanks for reading the Good Things and thanks for your emails.
The cats are fine. Rascal is the only one with me at present and he is in the recliner chair so I may have to move him to the computer chair when I finish the Good Things. As I was sitting in the back yard this evening eight of my cats were out with me. Tony is the only one that was not with us. He was still resting in the house.
Have a nice Saturday. Everett

The LighthouseAlong the shore of life, God’s lighthouse stands
Guiding your vessel safely to dry land.
His beacon of light shines bright for all to see
His infinite love that He has for you and me.
Keep your eyes focused on His beacon of light
For He will show you the way on a dark stormy night.
When the waves of despair splash all around,
you do not need to fear that you will drown.
At the helm of your vessel Jesus is in command,
Guiding you safely to dry land.
When the winds of fear blow you off course,
Just gaze over to God’s lighthouse along life’s shore.
His beacon glows bright so that you can find your way
through life’s most difficult days.
Even when the jagged rocks of hurt are before you
His beacon of light will alert you.
He will guide you through the darkest night
With His beacon of love shining bright.
Good Things
Thursday, May 1, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. - 1 Peter 1:3-5(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. - 2 Corinthians 9:8(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Although no one can know the exact day, we have God's promise that Jesus will come back (Acts1:7-11). - Cindy Hess Casper -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
May you learn to sail in all winds and across the seas of change. - From I Wish For You -
We become who God meant us to be by giving ourselves completely to Him. - From Our Daily Bread -
When you give until it hurts, it makes you feel good. - From Reminisce Magazine -

Harbor and PortFather,
This I seek, this I pray --
To harbor in Jesus, Your Son,
The Divine-Harbor, the Grace-Harbor,
And there, cast my anchor in this Deep --
A Refuge beyond the pirate demon's reach,
A Shelter to moor my soul's vessel and be
Out of the world's creeping fog that crawls ghostlike.
This I seek, this I pray --
To port in Jesus, Your Son,
The Divine-Port, the Grace-Port,
And there, on this Sacred Dock,
Unload my cargo of sins
To load pardon,
Unload my questions
To load trust,
Unload my darkness
To load light,
Unload my shut soul
To load an open soul.
Then, I am ready to leave this Grace-Haven
For the sea passage -- whether
On waters treacherous and terrible, or
On waters still and silent.
With a passage free and easy, for
I sail with Jesus in my soul's hold.
Good Things
Wednesday, April 30, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. - James 5:16(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that Scripture says without reason that the spirit He caused to live in us envies intensely? 6 But He gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says; "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." - James 4:4-6(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Each of us have been given gifts; and when we use them for God's glory, they bring satisfaction and joy. - Dennis Fisher -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Don't fly into a rage unless you are prepared for a rough landing. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Jesus is not one of many ways to approach God, nor is He the best of several ways; He is the only way. - Tozer - From Our Daily Bread -
When you hug, I hope you hug tight. When you talk, I hope you talk with your eyes. When you listen, I hope you listen with your heart. - From I Wish For You -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 63 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I went to the post office and then to the Petsense store and then to Walmart before I came home. I did most of my shopping for this week. I filled my van with gasoline at $3.30 per gallon at Walmart. I took a nap with Emmy and Smokey. Beau had joined us by the time I got up from my nap. I put food and treats outside for the cats at around 6:00 p.m. It was still too cool to sit outside. All different colors of iris are now beginning to bloom. Thanks for reading and thanks for emails and comments.
The cats are fine. Rascal is in the recliner and the others elsewhere. Rascal doesn't sleep with me during the day but he does get in my lap a few times during the day while I am sitting. He goes to bed with me at night quite often and snuggles real close. I have seen all the cats this evening.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett.
