Good Things
Friday, March 7, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
4 No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs - he wants to please his commanding officer. 5 Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules. 6 The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. - 2 Timothy 2:4-6(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
13 Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. - Proverbs 4:13(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
I want the whole Christ for my Savior, the whole Bible for my book, the whole church for my fellowship, and the whole world for my mission field. - John Wesley -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A life filled with love for the Lord and for others is a fulfilling life. - From Our Daily Bread -
Many things are opened by mistake, but none quite as often as the mouth. - Forwarded by Burlene -
The future belongs to those who are willing to work for it. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 61 degrees. Charley and I attended the funeral for Leon McNutt at 11:00 a.m. We then went to St. John's Catholic Church for a soup lunch. I had vegetable soup, cornbread, cake and ice tea to drink. I saw Barbara, Brenda, Dorothy and Imogene there from our church. I also saw Bill there. I went by the Family Dollar Store for a few items and then to the post office for my mail. I came home and took my nap with Emmy and Smokey. I put food outside for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. Thanks to each one who sent an email and thanks to everyone for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Leo and Rascal are in the den with me at present. Smokey was here but he just left for some other place. My cats and I have been together so long until I know what to expect from them and they know what to expect from me. Late in the evening some of them are usually waiting out by the storage house where I give them their treats. I have seen all of the cats this evening.
Have a nice Saturday. Everett.

Thursday, March 6, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
12 Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge. - Proverbs 23:12(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. - 2 Peter 1:5-8(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
When God gives a friend, He is entrusting us with the care of another's heart. It is a chance to be a Life giver. - Stasi Eldredge -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
If you don't have time to do it right, you may have to find time to do it over. - From Reminisce Magazine -
No one has ever been bored by someone paying him or her a complement. - From Reminisce Magazine -
When we learn from our mistakes, we are less likely to repeat them. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
We had rain during the night but we awoke to partly cloudy skies which turned into a sunny afternoon. High temperature today was 54 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and our nephew, Denton. I went by the post office for my mail. I took a nap with Smokey. I put food outside for the animals at around 6:00 p.m.
Tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. I will attend a funeral for Leon McNutt, a friend I have known since childhood. We grew up in the same little country community and attended the same little country school of Bohannon. Leon was 89 years of age, just 9 months older than me. His sister, Floyce, married my brother, Abe. Floyce went to be with the Lord several years ago but Abe is still living at home at age 95.
After the funeral tomorrow, Charley and I will go to the soup lunch. Proceeds from the soup lunches will go to Glenda, Taco Bob's wife. As I have reported before, Glenda has cancer.
My cats are fine. Lucy is lying in the floor and Rascal is in the recliner chair. Emmy and Smokey were here just a few minutes ago but have now gone elsewhere. Leo is on a desk near me having a snack of dry food. I reported last night that Emmy had her kittens in 2010 but it was in April of 2009. I have seen all of the cats this evening.
Have a nice Friday.
Everett.

Wednesday, March 5, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. 28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow" - when you now have it with you. - Proverbs 3:27-28(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
2 Keep my (wisdom's) commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. - Proverbs 7:2(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident, and riches take wings. Only one thing endures and that is character. - Horace Greeley -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Our loving God is always near - forever by our side. - From Our Daily Bread -
There is a place for everything; just keep everything in its place. - From Reminisce Magazine - NOTES:
Today has been mostly cloudy, especially this afternoon. High temperature today was 48 degrees. I had lunch by myself today at Taco Bob's as Charley had a luncheon at his church and Bill had an appointment with a doctor in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I took an early afternoon nap with Beau and Emmy. Beau is Emmy's child but I think animals forget they are related after a year or so but they are still good friends. Beau was born while I lived in Moore, Oklahoma, in April of 2010. Emmy was about a year old at the time, her first and only litter of five kittens. One little guy died after a few weeks. Leo is also one of that litter. My daughter, Treva, kept one of that litter and still has her. At 1:30 p.m. I went to the McAlester Clinic to have some prescriptions called in by my nurse. Faxing prescriptions does not work all that well. I then went to Walmart for my weekly supplies. I rested a little more but I didn't sleep. I put food outside for the animals at around 5:30 p.m. The outside cats or animals ate their food last night.
The soup lunch is to be on Friday's this year, same as last year.
Thanks to everyone for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things. The cats are fine. Emmy and Leo are on the back of the sofa and Tony just left out. Smokey just came in. I have seen all the cats this evening. That is enough rambling about my cats for tonight.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett.

Tuesday, March 4, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Apostle Paul Wrote) 11 "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind you own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody." - 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal. - Isaiah 26:3-4(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Blessed are they who tenderly seek to comfort another and never run out of compassion and grace. - Janet I. Weaver Smith -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
All-powerful, merciful, wise, and just is the God in whom we trust. - From Our Daily Bread -
Antiques are the things one generation buys, the next generation gets rid of and the following generation buys again. - From Reminisce Magazine -
If you always tell the truth, you have less to remember. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
If you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, just stay around a day or two and it will change. We had a beautiful sunny afternoon with a high temperature of 45 degrees after two miserable days of sleet and snow and below freezing temperatures. However, God is still in control of the weather as well as everything else. I had lunch with Charley and Pastor JT. I went to the post office for my mail. I went to Walgreen's for a couple of items. I came home, took a nap with Beau, Emmy, Smokey and Friendly even joined us for a little while. At around 4:00 p.m. I made a trip to the Petsense store for canned cat food. I put food and treats outside for the animals at around 5:30 p.m. I guess it was too cold for other cats and animals to come by last night as the food was not eaten. This week begins the soup lunch at St. Johns Catholic Church. For a donation you can have a good soup lunch and know that the proceeds always go to a good cause. The weekly Lunch will go until Easter. I think it will be on a Thursday this year rather than Friday. I will find out for sure tomorrow. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Leo is the only one in the den with me at present but I have seen all of the cats this evening.
Have a nice Wednesday. Everett.

Monday, March 3, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
14 He (the Lord) makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate - bringing forth food from the earth: - Psalm 104:14(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
21 May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in You (the Lord). - Psalm 25:21(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Friendships began in this world can be taken up again in heaven never to be broken off. - Francis De Sales -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
If you don't know where you're going, you may miss it when you get there. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The only food that doesn't go up in price is food for thought. - From Reminisce Magazine -
We need more than a new start - we need a new heart! - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 23 degrees. Since everything was pretty well iced over this morning including my van and a cold temperature of 8 degrees I didn't attempt to go out at all today. I rested this morning and spent the afternoon in the den. I did some much needed paper work as well as worked some puzzles. Of course I always have my cats to look after and take care of. The sun was out today and melted a lot of the ice and sleet so I will go out for lunch tomorrow. Two days of just my cats and me is enough, however my cats are so much company to me and I am thankful for them. Thanks to each one who sends an email and thanks to everyone who reads the Good Things. I have a prayer request tonight from Michelle who lives in California. I will leave her note at the end of the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Emmy, Leo and Rascal are in the den with me again tonight. It is still too cold for the cats to stay outside very long. I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Tuesday. Everett.
Keep Thinking The Good Thoughts!!!
Here is Michelle's note: Thank you Everett for Good Things. I am very tired tonight, so I will make this email short. I am praying for Bill. Can you ask people to pray for me? My surgery was successful, but I'm experiencing much painful cramping from my neck all down my arm. I knew I would hurt, so I can handle that, but the cramps are very bad. I appreciate it.
Blessings to you & the cats. Michelle
