Amaryllis UnfurlingClosed petals mature
in the midst
of my spear-shaped leaves,
blooming toward the sky,
as I wait with patience
for my aperture.
That time arrives soon
enough and the sun’s warmth
unfurls my blossoms
reaching for earth’s azure,
with its unlimited altitude.
I can express
immeasurable joy.
by showing my trumpeted,
variegated colors
for the world’s admiration.
Good Things
Sunday, March 30, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37:3-4(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. - Psalm 107:1(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
We can trust our faithful God to be there in all of our struggles. - Cindy Hess Kasper -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Enjoy the little things. One day you will look back and realize that those little things were the most important things of all. - From Thank You For Being A Friend -
Those who have been found should seek the lost. - From Our Daily Bread -
Volunteers are caring friends. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 73 degrees. I attended Worship Services this morning. We had a wonderful service as usual with the singing of choruses, hymns and spiritual songs. Pastor JT's message was titled "Transformed through the Cross: Spectator or Participant?" I had lunch at home and slept most of the afternoon. I put food outside for the cats around 6:00 p.m. and put the garbage on the street around 7:00 p.m. I had a phone call from Ron (my son) in Oklahoma City a little while ago. Old Rambler better sign off for tonight and rest a little more. Thank you for your e-mails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. None are with me at present but I have seen all of them this evening. Have a nice Monday to start the week.

Good Things
Saturday, March 29, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Apostle Paul wrote) 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending His own son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so He condemned sin in sinful man, 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. - Romans 8:1-4(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations. - Psalm 33:11(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
When things come down to the very end, the question from on High will not be if you were successful. Rather, "Were you faithful?" Were you faithful to God, faithful in your relationships, faithful in your daily actions? Faith is trusting God. Faithfulness is living in gratitude for God's great love and salvation. - Dr. Darryl DeBorde in "The Evangel" -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Before your burden overcomes you, trust God to put His arms underneath you. - From Our Daily Bread - Happiness is something that multiplies by division. - From Reminisce Magazine - When you lose, don't lose the lesson. - From Reminisce Magazine - NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 66 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. This was the first time Bill had been back to Taco Bob's Fiesta Grill since his surgery on March 20. He is still taking it easy for a while. I went to the post office and picked up my mail. I had a nap this afternoon. Smokey was with me most of the time. At 6:00 p.m. I put food out for the outside animals that might come by tonight. At 7:00 p.m. I watched the Lawrence Welk show, which was about Spring. In talking with my daughter, June, last night, who lives in Hawaii, I mentioned that I might just do the Good Things every other night. Then I got to thinking, some people actually wait for the Good Things before going to bed, believe it or not. At least that is what they tell me. Others perhaps wait for the Good Things every night. So I guess I will continue to send them every night as long as I feel up to it. Let me know if you would like to be dropped from the Good Things. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Rascal is the only one with me at present. He is in the recliner chair. I have seen all the cats this evening.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Sunday.

A Boat in the SunYard-work and dishes, the mortgage is due
A new day is dawning, and the baby is too
I need some sleep cause my day's never done
But still Lord I thank you from my boat in the
sun
From my boat in the sun I see the sun rise
His majestic creation helps me realize
How lucky I am to be one of His own
When so many others are lost all alone
My troubles are small, and my tests they are few
Compared to some others that are dying for you
"My Lord how I love you" I give thanks to Thee
For the prayers that were prayed to help set me free
From the clay to the potter, the fruit to the vine
Rivers to oceans, from your heart to mine
By the word never changing, thanks for days never done
and the wisdom to spend them on a boat in the sun
Good Things
Friday, March 28, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Apostle Paul wrote) 16 "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." - 1 Corinthians 4:16-18(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. - 2 Corinthians 9:7(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
For those who have placed their trust in Jesus, death does not have the last word! - Jesse Middendorf -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Nothing makes a woman so pretty as telling her she is. - From Reminisce Magazine -
We fulfill our purpose when we serve our creator. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 55 degrees. Charley and I went to the soup luncheon today. I had pinto bean soup, cake and ice tea to drink. I saw the group of women from our church. They took up a whole big table and If I had needed to eat with them today, I wouldn't have found a place. Bill was also at the luncheon, the first time I had seen him since his surgery. He says he is doing fine so far with just one kidney but there are a lot of good things that he can't eat now, such as cornbread, chips and salsa at Taco Bob's and no dairy products. I took a nap this afternoon with Beau. I put food outside for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. Thanks to everyone for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Emmy, Itty Bitty and Rascal are in the den with me at present. The problem is that Itty Bitty chases Emmy for some reason. I have seen all the cats this evening.
Have a nice Saturday.
