GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
31 Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.
- Proverbs 31:30-31(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
20 Those who listen to instruction will prosper;
those who trust the Lord will be joyful.
- Proverbs 16:20(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE

NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 42 degrees. Low temperature last night was 17 degrees. My cleaning lady came at 11:10 a.m. and cleaned my house while I went to lunch with Charley. I came by the post office and Family Dollar Store. The mainly traveled streets were much better today but the lesser traveled streets are still snow packed. We will not have a church service tomorrow because the church parking lot is still snow covered and the streets near the church are some of the lesser traveled streets and are still slick. In this part of the country we don't have as much equipment for snow and ice clearing as they do further north. We don't have much bad winter weather. This winter is an exception for McAlester, Oklahoma.
I have been listening to the Speer Family as I did the Good Things. They are a wonderful Southern Gospel group that have been around for a long time. Several of the family members have gone on to Heaven, including Dad and Mom
Speer as well as Brock Speer. The albums I have been listening to tonight over the Internet are real old and are very good listening. I saw the Speer Family at least three times through the years but I never got to see Dad and Mom Speer.
I am feeling especially good tonight. I will tell you why. At my wife, Flonnie's, funeral the last thing we did was remove the ring from her finger. Treva let me do that and I put it on my little finger next to my finger with my ring. I wore that ring for almost three years. One time as I was taking a shower her ring came off my finger and dropped in the bath tub. I put it back on my finger and vowed to put some scotch tape on it so it wouldn't come off again but I didn't do that right away. Two days after Christmas this year I discovered that Flonnie's ring was missing from my finger. I cried and looked everywhere for the ring but I didn't find it. I prayed to God that He would let me find that ring and tried to believe that He would. I think I even made the statement that I would find that ring. I guess my faith was weak as it has been a month and a half since I lost it. Well, tonight I was looking in one of the drawers in the desk near my computer. I saw a ring. I picked it up and it was Flonnie's ring. I said "Praise the Lord" and "Thank you Lord." How in the world that ring got inside that drawer I will never know. Folks, I think that was a Miracle from
God. These rings are very special because we have our initials "ECF" on the rings. You can bet I am going to fix this ring so it won't come off again.
The cats are fine. They have been going out a little more today. The picture tonight is another of the stray named Lucy.
At 10:40 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 34 degrees. I will see you next time.
If you would like to drop the Good Things, send me an e-mail and I will certainly understand.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
8 But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. 9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. - 2 Peter 3:8-9(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
12 If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. 13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. - 1 Corinthians 10:12-13(New Living Translation).

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
Hope springs eternal for the child of God!
- From Reflecting God -
True happiness is not in doing what we like to do but in liking what we have to do.

NOTES
Today has been cloudy and it snowed most of the day. We had about 3 inches of snow today. High temperature today was 25 degrees. Low temperature last night was 18 degrees. The snow has now stopped. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I thought that I had better do all of my shopping today, not knowing what tomorrow will bring, so while I was out I went to Country Mart, a Dollar General Store and Walmart. By being very careful the streets can be traveled.
The cats are fine, mainly staying in the house and going outside just for short periods of time. The picture tonight is the stray cat that we had spayed and named her Lucy several years ago. I moved to Moore, Oklahoma last year for 10 months and when I returned Lucy soon showed up again. As you can see, Lucy is making herself at home by sleeping in our back yard.
At 10:00 p.m. skies are cloudy with a temperature of 19 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
2 The Lord approves of those who are good,
but he condemns those who plan wickedness.
- Proverbs 12:2(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
(The Apostle Paul wrote) 1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. - Romans 12:1-2(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 20 degrees. Low temperature last night was 8 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and then to the post office to pick up my mail. The post office windows were open today. The streets are still snow packed but you can make it by being very careful and avoiding hills. The rest of the time today I have been home doing various things including a nap this afternoon. It is days like this that I miss my Flonnie more than other days although I still miss her and think about her every hour of every day.
The cats are fine. Little Girl is in the recliner and Rascal is lying in the floor not too far from my chair on his back. He is showing off his pretty white fuzzy belly. I think all of the cats are inside now. They still don't stay outside long because of the snow and bitterly cold weather. Leo is the exception to that. He stays outside most of the day but is inside now. The picture tonight is some old man (Everett) with a cat named Smokey.
At 9:15 p.m. skies are cloudy with a temperature of 19 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods.
His faithful love endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords.
His faithful love endures forever.
4 Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles.
His faithful love endures forever.
5 Give thanks to him who made the heavens so skillfully.
His faithful love endures forever.
6 Give thanks to him who placed the earth among the waters.
His faithful love endures forever.
7 Give thanks to him who made the heavenly lights—
His faithful love endures forever.
8 the sun to rule the day,
His faithful love endures forever.
9 and the moon and stars to rule the night.
His faithful love endures forever.
- Psalm 136:1-9(New Living Translation)
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 15 “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. 16 You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 19 So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. 20 Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions." - Matthew 7:15-20(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been a sunny day but very cold. High temperature today was 17 degrees. Low temperature last night was 7 degrees. I went out today to have lunch with my brother, Charley, at Taco Bob's Fiesta Grill. Then I went to the post office to pick up my mail. The roads are snow packed but I had no problem in driving. The post office windows were closed. I suppose it was because of the weather. This is the first time that I can remember the post office being closed due to weather conditions. The rest of the day I spent at home with my cats. The snow didn't melt any today because it never got above freezing.
The cats are fine. They are all inside at present except Lucy, the stray. She will not stay in the house for more than a few minutes. Little Girl is in the recliner tonight and Rascal is lying on the floor. The picture tonight is another one of Emmy.
At 9:40 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 12 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 21 “You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ 22 But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell." - Matthew 5:21-22(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
10 In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. 11 All power to him forever! Amen. - 1 Peter 5:10-11(New Living Translation).

NOTES
The weather forecast for today came in just as predicted. We had snow until early afternoon. According to the weather department we had 4 inches of snow in McAlester. I hear that Oklahoma City and Tulsa had much more, even as much as 12 inches in Tulsa. The snow has left us with very cold weather. High temperature today was 32 degrees. The low temperature so far is the current temperature of 10 degrees and it is getting colder by the hour. Needless to tell you I stayed inside all of today. I went outside to look for my newspaper late this evening but apparently the carrier didn't make delivery today which is understandable. I acted like a cat today and you that know cats know what I did most of the day.
The cats are fine. They have been staying inside today. They would go outside for a few minutes and then want back inside. Leo likes to stay outside a lot and he did sleep on the back porch most of the day, but even Leo is inside tonight. Little Girl is snuggled on the couch on a blanket. The others are snuggling somewhere. It is warm inside the house. Smokey is not snuggling right now as he has been here in the den most of the evening. The picture tonight is my beautiful Emmy.
At 9:20 p.m. skies are clear with a temperature of 10 degrees. I will see you next time.
