GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
11 When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. - 1 Corinthians 13:11(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. - Hebrews 11:6(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE

NOTES
Today has been sunny with temperatures in the seventies. We had a few sprinkles of rain just before noontime, but not enough to measure at my house. I had lunch with Bill and Charley. I came by the post office. I came home and took a nap. Later in the afternoon I went to Walgreens to pick up a prescription and then on to Walmart. It was cloudy and very cool this evening but I sat out with the cats and read for a while. I haven't sent out the Good Things since Friday night. I wasn't sick but I had only been hearing from 4 or 5 faithful responders to the Good Things so I was beginning to wonder if it was time for them to fade away. I like to do them as long as they are helping people but I need to hear from you often if they are helping you. It takes over an hour to do them but I certainly don't mind. So if the Good Things are helping you and you read and enjoy them, write me a short note and that will determine how often they will continue. The picture tonight is a buffalo on a hunting preserve between McAlester and Coalgate, Oklahoma, that I made a few years ago. To me, to shoot one of these animals would be almost like shooting a pet. Needless to say, I don't hunt.
The cats are still doing fine.
At 10:00 p.m. skies are mostly cloudy with a temperature of 61 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are. -1 Peter 5:8-9(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
8 Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come. 9 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it. - 1 Timothy 4:8-9(New Living Translation).
A PRAYER FOR VIGILANCE
Lord, keep me alert, so that I may avoid anything that would displease You. Protect me from satan's attempts to make me falter. For "greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Amen.
- From Light For My Path for Grandparents -
A QUOTE
The devil is not terribly frightened of our human efforts and credentials. But he knows his kingdom will be damaged when we begin to lift up our hearts to God. - Jim Cymbala -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
Those who think they know it all really annoy those of us who do.

There's no limit to the good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit.

NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with high temperatures in the mid eighties. I had lunch with Charley, Pastor J. T. and wife, Dianne. After lunch, Charley and I rode out to the little cemetary at Bohannon with Doug Christian, and his mother, Nell. We attended Graveside Services for our great niece, Ann Mills. She was 72 years of age. Doug Christian (our great nephew) spoke at the Service. He is a cousin to Ann. I was tired when I got home so I took my nap. Before my nap was over, Rascal and Leo were in bed with me. I sat out with the cats this evening and read until dark. The picture tonight is our three children, from left to right, Treva, June and Ron. The picture was made by Lake Shawnee in Topeka, Kansas in November, 2004.
The cats are fine. Little Girl on the couch. Rascal just came in and is resting on the desk by my computer where I can pet him. He loves to be petted.
At 10:00 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 60 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
5 So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. 6 Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. 7 You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. 8 But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. - Colossians 3:5-8(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
24 The fears of the wicked will be fulfilled;
the hopes of the godly will be granted.
- Proverbs 10:24(New Living Translation).

Solitude is a good place to visit but a poor place to stay.

I sat out with the cats this evening. The picture tonight is Little Girl a few years ago. She had her tail hidden behind her which makes her look like a bobcat.
The cats are fine.

NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with highs in the mid seventies. I had lunch with Charley. I went by the post office. There was a small earthquake in Oklahoma this morning shortly after 9:00 a.m. but I didn't feel it. Charley said he felt it and it rattled the windows. I took a nap this afternoon with Smokey. Itty Bitty was also on the bed. Later this afternoon I went out and paid my water, garbage & sewage bill. I went by Country Mart for a few items. I sat out with the cats this evening and read until dark. The picture tonight is some wild flowers growing out by the side of the road in the country.
The cats are fine doing their usual things.
At 10:35 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 56 degrees. I will see you next time.

NOTES
Today has been partly cloudy with high temperatures in the mid seventies. I had lunch with Bill today. My brother, Charley and Denton McNutt (our nephew) went to a funeral today in Fort Smith, Arkansas, for David Christian, our nephew. He was 51 years of age. Since Charley had someone to go with him, I did not go because of my back problem. I came by the post office. I had a nap with Smokey. Later in the afternoon I went for a hair cut. The picture yesterday were Morning Glorys from our back yard in in 2004. The picture tonight is also of the same Morning Glorys, but a different picture. Mary Ellen Smith from Colorado sent me a poem last night after seeing the picture. The poem was written by her and I will leave it at the end of the Good Things tonight.
The cats are fine. Little Girl in her usual place. Itty Bitty and Rascal were in a little whie ago.
At 10:10 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 63 degrees. I will see you next time.

Here is Mary Ellen's poem:
******************************************************************************************
Everett, such a lovely picture of the morning glories! I love them. Here is a poem I wrote a while back about that most delicate of flowers. Thank you for the inspiration to look it up and share it!God bless you and your wonderful cats!
m.e.
a morning glory story
by Mary Ellen Smith
underneath the morning glory's heart shaped leaf of green,
near to where the hummingbird for a moment can be seen,
there, where well dressed ladybugs spend summer's last long day
the shade is cool and kind to all who happen on her way.
.
she dresses every dawning with her trumpet blooms of blue.
and some think she is crying but tis only morning's dew.
so delicate her tendrils as she gently climbs to see
where else to weave her flowered canopy.
.
the busy bees stop by to catch a little nectar sweet.
noisily they buzz about with pollen on their feet.
fuzzy black and yellow, the bumblebees a sight
musically making merry in their flight.
.
a bluebird flies in to rest before her day is done
and toward evening it seems she is not the only one.
they find a spot and perch a while upon a nearby trellis
some say the morning glory's blue can make a bluebird jealous.
.
now as the sun yawns sleepily a friendly warm goodbye
the morning glory looks above to see a starlit sky.
content now in the darkness she knows that all will keep.
and settles she in for the night to get her beauty sleep.
