Merry Christmas
From Betty Case, Ohio
Subject: *Twas the month before Christmas*
*Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
* December 25th is just a "Holiday".*
*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*
*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*
*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*
*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
; * Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*
*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*
*So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*
*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS,
not Happy Holiday!*

Rules from God
I don't remember when or from whom I got this one, but when I came across it tonight, I thought it would be a good reminder. Can you tell I'm an optimist. Hope your cup overflows with blessings, or is at least half full rather than half empty. Nan
Rules from God
1. Wake Up!
Decide to have a good day. "Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." - Psalms 118:24
2. Dress Up!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart." -I Samuel 16:7
3. Shut Up!
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul." - Proverbs 13:3
4. Stand Up!
..for what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything. "Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..." -Galatians 6:9-10
5. Look Up!
..to the Lord. "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me." -Philippians 4:13
6. Reach Up!
..for something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path." -Proverbs 3:5-6
7. Lift Up!
..your prayers. "Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING." Philippians 4:6
Crabby Old Man
From Ruth Poteet:
> CRABBY OLD MAN
>
> When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a small hospital near Tampa
> ,
> Florida , it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.
>
> Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, They
> found
> this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were
> made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.
>
> One nurse took her copy to Missouri . The old man's sole bequest to
> posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine
> of the St. Louis Association for Mental Health. A slide presentation has
> also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem.
>
> And this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now
> the
> author of this "anonymous" poem winging across the Internet.
>
>
> Crabby Old Man
>
> What do you see nurses? ..What do you see?
> What are you thinking.....when you're looking at me?
> A crabby old man, ...not very wise,
> Uncertain of habit .......with faraway eyes?
>
> Who dribbles his food.......and makes no reply.
> When you say in a loud voice....."I do wish you'd try!"
> Who seems not to notice ...the things that you do.
> And forever is losing .......... A sock or shoe?
>
> Who, resisting or not...........lets you do as you will,
> With bathing and feeding .... The long day to fill?
> Is that what you're thinking? Is that what you see?
> Then open your eyes, nurse......you're not looking at me.
>
> I'll tell you who I am .......... As I sit here so still,
> As I do at your bidding, ....as I eat at your will.
> I'm a small child of ten.......with a father and mother,
> Brothers and sisters .........who love one another
>
> A young boy of Sixteen ..with wings on his feet
> Dreaming that soon now. .......a lover he'll meet.
> A groom soon at Twenty ......my heart gives a leap.
> Remembering, the vows......that I promised to keep.
>
> At Twenty-Five, now .......... I have young of my own.
> Who need me to guide .... And a secure happy home.
> A man of Thirty ........ My young now grown fast,
> Bound to each other ........ With ties that should last.
>
> At Forty, my young sons ...have grown and are gone,
> But my woman's beside me.......to see I don't mourn.
> At Fifty, once more, ....... Babies play 'round my knee,
> Again, we know children ...... My loved one and me.
>
> Dark days are upon me ............ My wife is now dead.
> I look at the future ...............I shudder with dread.
> For my young are all rearing......young of their own.
> And I think of the years... And the love that I've known.
>
> I'm now an old man.........and nature is cruel.
> 'Tis jest to make old age .....look like a fool.
> The body, it crumbles..........grace and vigor, depart.
> There is now a stone........where I once had a heart.
>
> But inside this old carcass ...... A young guy still dwells,
> And now and again ......my battered heart swells
> I remember the joys........... I remember the pain.
> And I'm loving and living.............life over again.
>
> I think of the years .all too few......gone too fast.
> And accept the stark fact........that nothing can last.
> So open your eyes, people ..........open and see..
> Not a crabby old man. Look closer....see........ME!!
